Mayor Apel, Town Council Approve $2,834,000 Emergency Appropriation

On Tuesday, November 15, 2011, Mayor George F. Apel and the 2011-13 Town Council held their first Town Council meeting, during which the Town Council approved an emergency appropriation in the amount of $2,834,000 to cover the costs incurred as a result of Winter Storm Alfred. The emergency appropriation is in addition to the $420,000 that was approved during an emergency meeting held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the Emergency Operations Center, bringing the total storm appropriations to $3,254,000.

As a result of the additional Storm Alfred funding, brush clean-up crews are expected to complete storm clean-up over the next four-to-six weeks. Residents are asked to place all remaining Storm Alfred brush curbside by Monday, November 21, 2011. Additionally, Public Works crews will begin leaf collection on the normal routes beginning on Monday, November 21, 2011. Furthermore, Henry Park will be closed to brush collection on Monday, November 21, 2011.
